The Missouri Senate has introduced a bill that will regulate Large Carnivores. This bill defines a Large Carnivore as:
"Large carnivore", either of the following:
(a) Any cat of the Felidae family that is nonnative to this state held in captivity, including a hybrid cross with such a cat, but excluding any common domestic or house cat; or
(b) A bear of a species that is nonnative to this state and held in captivity
This bill will require that all "Large Carnivores" be permitted through the state. I have discussed this bill breifly with Lynn Culver-president of the FCF. The major draw back to this bill is the fact that it will require the owners to obtain and maintain at least $250,000 of liability insurance. This insurance can be difficult to impossible to obtain, and if found is very costly.
There is a Yahoo group that was just started to organize a fight against this bill.
